| Ladd shines in Pirates' 8-5 victory over S.E. Guilford (May 17, 2001, NCHSLA tournament semifinal)
| Goalie play sparkled on both teams Thursday night, but Riverside goalkeeper Richard Ladd sparkled a little bit brighter as his 15 saves helped the Pirates to an 8-5 NCHSLA semifinal victory over a tough Southeast Guilford team. The game avenged last year's 9-8 overtime loss to the Falcons in the same game, not to mention the lightning-shortened regular-season game in 2000 that the Falcons were leading when the game was called. Chris Feifs led in the offensive category with four goals, bringing his season total to 64 (the Wilton stats don't count, so Chris loses one goal in his total) and breaking the previous record of 63 in a season by Evan Leekley two years ago. Graham Murray added two and Andy DeLamielleure and Ladd (working in the EMO lineup) each scored one. This puts Riverside into the NCHSLA state championship game for the fourth time in five years. They meet the Chapel Hill Tigers for the fourth time this year on Saturday at 3 p.m. at UNC's Henry Stadium in the state championship game. For the first 11:59 of the game it looked like the teams were playing with a superball. Unfamiliar with the bouncy turf field at UNC's Henry Stadium, neither team could possess the ball for long, nor, it seems, pick up a ground ball cleanly. During the first period Ladd made some spectacular saves to keep the Falcons off the scoreboard. His stops at 5:46, 4:24 and 1:11 came against straight one-on-one Falcon tries. S.E. Guilford goaltender John Clark, likewise had key saves in the first period to keep the Pirates scoreless for all but one second of the 12-minute period. It looked like there would be zeros on both sides of the scoreboard for the first period until Graham Murray scored on a teamup with Cory Coffman with one second left on the clock to put Riverside up 1-0. And the way both teams -- and goalies -- were playing, it looked like that may be enough for a win. In the second period the Falcons came out in a zone defense, and Riverside, despite taking numerous shots on goal, saw them go wide, high or in goalie Clark's stick. Then, at 5:37 of the second period, Falcon defenseman Matt Mullen was called for a slash and the Pirates had a one-minute man-up opportunity. They capitalized quickly as Chris Feifs scored his first goal of the night unassisted. It came after a Laurence Tilley shot hit iron, was picked up by a S.E. Guilford player and then stolen by Feifs, who barrelled in for the score to put Riverside up 2-0. Riverside won the faceoff, as they did 13 out of 15 times (Feifs was 4 of 6 and Kevin Raspet was 9 out of 9) but, again, neither team could control the ball for long. During a four-minute stretch in the second half of the second period, Ladd again had dramatic saves against Falcons left alone in the crease. His knee save on longpole Falcon Jonathan Murphey at 4:02, and on Falcon midfielder Jimmy Mullen at 2:24 must have left the S.E. Guilford fans thinking there was a lid on the Riverside goal. But Riverside found Falcon net at :23 when Graham Murray scooped up a missed shot and forced it past the Falcons' Clark to make it 3-0 Riverside. That's when a bizarre sequence of events occurred that must have really made the Falcons feel snakebit. S.E. Guilford's Chad Thompson managed to win the Falcons' first faceoff of the night after Murray's goal and raced downfield to put the ball in the net. Only trouble was, S.E. Guilford Coach Mark Goldsmith had called a timeout before the shot, so it didn't count. The half ended with Riverside holding a 3-0 lead. In the third quarter, Raspet won the opening faceoff, but it was three minutes before the Pirates scored again, this time when Andy DeLamielleure scored at 9:18 on a Graham Murray assist to make it 4-0. Again Raspet won the faceoff, but neither team mustered any offense for the next four minutes. At 5:46, the Falcons' Jimmy Mullen was called for a push with possession penalty and Riverside had a 30-second man advantage that they couldn't convert. Falcons goalie Clark kept the margin at four with a good save on a Cory Coffman shot at 5:21, but at 4:58 Feifs again scored, this time on a Raspet assist, to put Riverside up 5-0. After Raspet again won the faceoff, Clark made another save, this one on a Graham Murray shot. Riverside had another man-up opportunity when Mullen was called for a slash, but again they couldn't capitalize. And again it was Clark who kept the margin from growing with a save on a Feifs shot at 2:02. That save was neutralized, however, when two Falcons were called for two 30-second penalties at 1:33, giving Riverside a two-man advantage they didn't waste. Feifs scored at 1:26 on a Ladd assist. Raspet won the faceoff after that score, but Riverside lost possession, forcing Ladd to make another save at :41. With 8 seconds remaining in the third period S.E. Guilford scored its first goal when Lucas McCraw scored on a Brandon Allen assist to make it 6-1 as the third period ended. Riverside fans know too well that the Falcons don't quit, and quit they didn't. They scored two more goals in two minutes, though with a little help from a 3-minute non-releaseable penalty on Riverside. It seems that Graham Murray's sidewall string broke on his stick during warmups before the game and he grabbed one of the practice sticks from the sideline. Unfortunately, that stick was too short and was pinched, making it illegal. During that three minutes, Jimmy Mullen scored at 11:07 and Scott VanHoever scored on a Brandon Allen assist at 10:52 to make it 6-3, still with nearly two minutes to go in the penalty. Raspet won the faceoff after VanHoever's goal, though, and the Pirates kept possession until the penalty ran out. Mullen was again called for a slash at 7:21 and Riverside had another man-up opportunity. During the man-up Laurence Tilley found himself coming around the Falcon goal at 6:49 with no defender in front but his shot went wide, to the groans of the Riverside faithful. The Pirates backed up the ball and retained possession and, at 6:32, Ladd added to his heroics on the night by scoring on a Kevin Raspet assist to put Riverside up 7-3, and the Pirate fans breathed a little easier. At 4:07 Feifs scored unassisted to make it 8-3, but, as usual, the Falcons weren't finished. After Chad Thompson won the second Southeast faceoff of the night Jimmy Mullen scored at 2:45 to make it 8-4. Then, later, at 1:29, with the outcome virtually assured, Falcon attackman Chris Collins scored to make it 8-5, which is how the game concluded.

| Pirates handle W-S Reynolds easily in 16-1 first-round win (May 11, 2001, NCHSLA tournament first round)
| After a sluggish start, during which the Pirates couldn't find their offense for the first seven minutes of the game, Riverside woke up and cruised to a 16-1 victory over 7th-seeded Winston-Salem Reynolds in the first round of the N.C. High School Lacrosse Association state tournament. Chris Feifs led the scoring for Riverside with five goals. Laurence Tilley and Andy DeLamielleure each had three, while Richard Ladd, Kevin Raspet, Graham Murray and Anthony Howard added one each. Cory Coffman, finally back after missing several games due to illness, had four assists, followed by Tilley with three assists and Owen Ham and Raspet with one each. Ladd had 10 saves in goal and Zach Brewer had two. The first six minutes were characterized by sloppy play, with lots of dropped balls and missed opportunities. With 6:40 remaining in the first period Reynolds' Josh Harwell was called for an illegal body check and the Pirates went man up. They couldn't find an opening during the one-minute penalty, but two seconds after the penalty ran out and the Reynolds player was returning to the field, Ladd cut down the center and hauled in a feed from Tilley to score Riverside's first goal. That seemed to break the logjam as the Pirates scored two more before the end of the first period. With 3:20 left Feifs cut around a pick up top and curved in from the right to score unassisted, and at :50 remaining Feifs scored again unassisted to make it 3-0 Riverside at the end of the first quarter. A seven-goal Riverside barrage was in store for Reynolds in the second period, but Reynolds answered with their lone goal of the night in that period. At 9:53, Tilley scored on an assist in transition from Coffman, and once again, at 6:45, Riverside scored just as a Reynolds penalty expired when Coffman assisted Feifs to make it 5-0. A mere 30 seconds later DeLamielleure scored in transition after a steal by Feifs at midfield, and then, at 5:48, DeLamielleure scored again on a classic back-in move from around the back side of the Reynolds goal to make it 7-0 Riverside. At 4:06, Reynolds' Ben Alsup scored the only goal of the night for his team when he beat his defender and scored from five feet out to make it 7-1.. Eight seconds later, though, at 3:54, Tilley scored on an acrobatic quick-stick on a feed from Kevin Raspet to make it 8-1. Two more quick goals, one by Graham Murray on a Tilley assist at 2:46 and another unassisted by Feifs made it 10-1 Riverside at the half. Riverside scored six times in the third period to end their scoring for the night. Feifs scored on a Tilley assist at 10:42, Tilley scored a man-up goal on a Coffman assist at 10:10, Raspet scored unassisted at 9:54 on a nifty reverse move, DeLamielleure scored unassisted at 5:14, Anthony Howard scored on an Owen Ham assist at 4:04 and Tim Gregory scored on another Coffman assist at 1:18> The entire Riverside bench got playing time in the final period, but neither Reynolds nor the Pirates managed a goal in the final 12 minutes. The face-off duo of Raspet and Feifs again dominated. They won 17 of 21 faceoffs on the night, with Raspet winning 11 of 14 and Feifs winning 6 of 7.

| Chapel Hill comes from two down to defeat Pirates 10-9 in PAC-6 final (May 3, 2001, PAC-6 Final)
| Prep lacrosse fans couldn't have asked for a better game on Thursday in the PAC-6 final, but Riverside fans certainly would have liked a better outcome. The Chapel Hill Tigers came from two goals down in the final quarter to edge the Pirates 10-9. The Pirates had dominated possession of the ball most of the evening, with Chris Feifs and Kevin Raspet winning 18 of 19 faceoffs until the final quarter. That's when Chapel Hill managed four key faceoffs and made them pay off with five final-period goals. Chris Feifs led the scoring for Riverside with six goals, bringing his season total to 56 goals. Kevin Raspet added two goals and Anthony Howard had one. Andy DeLamielleure had an assist. Both teams' offenses were sluggish in the early going, with eight minutes elapsing before the first goal of the game when Chapel Hill's sophomore midfielder Nick Woods put one in unassisted from the left side of the net. Eleven seconds later the Pirates' Fiefs evened the score with an unassisted goal of his own, and the Pirates wouldn't trail in the game again until 3:50 remained in the final quarter when the Tigers went ahead 9-8. Kevin Raspet put Riverside ahead at the 2:52 mark on an assist from DeLamielleure and the Pirates got the lead 2-1. Chapel Hill only had two cleared possessions in the first period, and just three shots on goal, but they still were only one behind. The Tigers tied the game a 2-2 with 9:44 left in the second period when Jason Merritt scored a quick-stick goal on a feed from behind the net from Woods. But at 2:10 Feifs scored on a 25-foot rifle shot after an assist from Raspet to make it 3-2 Riverside, which is what the score remained at halftime. The Pirates led in ground balls in the first half 29-21, and had 25 shots on goal to the Tigers' nine. Riverside goalkeeper Rich Ladd had five saves in the first half, as did Tiger goalie Tyler Wilcox. In faceoffs, Riverside's Feifs won six of seven in the first half. At 10:08 of the third period Feifs dodged three separate Tiger defenders to score unassisted to make the score 4-2. A great defensive stand by the Pirates from the nine to the seven minute mark kept the Pirate margin at 2. A shot by Riverside's Owen Ham at 6:29 looked like a sure goal, but the hard shot ricocheted off the Tiger goalie's leg, leaving him pumping his stinging appendage in discomfort for the next several minutes. At 6:09 another goal by Nick Woods brought the Tigers to within one, 4-3, and then the Tigers scored again in transition after a dropped Riverside ball at midfield when Scott Morris scored the first of his three goals on the night to make it 4-4. But a minute later Kevin Raspet scored from outside to make it 5-4, and then, at 4:35, the Pirates' Anthony Howard scored on a left-handed shot after doing a 360 turn to make it 6-4. A great save by Pirate goalie Ladd at 4:06 kept it a two-goal margin. The Pirates were called for an offsides at 3:18 and had to go man-down. The Tigers took quick advantage, scoring at 3:11 after Joe Tynan assisted Woods, who was completely open on the right side of the Riverside goal to make it 6-5. Another save by Ladd on a Scott Morris shot at 2:28 kept it 6-5, and then Riverside was called for three consecutive infractions that cost them possession -- a hold and two moving screens. With 12 seconds left in the third period, the ball got loose in front of the Riverside goal and no purple shirts were able to pick it up. As the ball bounced around in front of the crease, Riverside goalie Richard Ladd took measures into his own hands, moved well out of the crease and manhandled a crowd of Tigers and got the ball out of dangerous territory. The clock ran down on the third quarter with Riverside holding a slim 6-5 lead. At the 11:45 mark of the final quarter, Tiger goalie Tyler Wilcox made a save on a close-in shot by Pirate Graham Murray to keep the margin at one goal. But a minute later Riverside's Feifs used a screen (this one not moving) up top and curled around toward the Tiger goalie's left and scored unassisted to make it 7-5. After Riverside was called for an offsides, Chapel Hill's Scott Morris scored from up top to make it 7-6. Then, at 6:59 the Tigers were called for a slash and Riverside was in the extra-man offense, which requires Ladd to move to attack and Zach Brewer to move into goal. During the man-up, though, the Pirates lost possession and Chapel Hill came downfield in transition with numbers and a goal seemed assured. Brewer, however, made the save of his career and made the outlet to give Riverside possession again, still a man up. At 6:11 Feifs again took advantage and scored unassisted to make it 8-6 Riverside, and things were looking good for the Pirates. But Chapel Hill pulled to within one again at 5:00 on another Scott Morris goal, and then the Tigers began picking up the ball on faceoffs even after Feifs or Raspet won the rake of the ball. At the 4:30 mark a Riverside player slipped on the grass and dropped the ball, which was picked up by Chapel Hill's top defender, Michael Darden. He raced downfield and put the ball in the net to pull Chapel Hill into an 8-8 tie with 3:50 to go. Riverside's Kevin Radack was called for a late hit on that play and went a man down for a minute and the Tigers were given a free clear. They took advantage and scored to take the lead 9-8 with Woods assisting on a Shawn Handy goal. Riverside regained its faceoff form on the next play when Feifs took the draw and raced downfield to tie the score at 9-9 with 3:39 remaining. But the Tigers again won a faceoff and went downfield and shot at 2:39, but it went wide. But at 2:27, after bringing the ball back in after the shot, Woods scored again unassisted to make it 10-9 Chapel Hill. Riverside won the faceoff after that goal, and at 2:01 Coach Jim Kirkley called a timeout to discuss the matter. The Pirates kept possession but couldn't penetrate the Tiger defense, and at 51 seconds remaining they lost possession. They regained it, though, at 14 seconds and called another timeout. As play resumed the Pirates fired a shot but had no backup behind goal and lost possession with 8 seconds remaining. Chapel Hill ran out the clock and went away with the PAC-6 Tournament Championship trophy.

| Riverside comes from behind again to burn Jordan 8-5 (May 1, 2001, PAC-6 Semifinal)
| Using a 6-1 goal advantage in the second half and a smothering defense that simply wouldn't let Jordan clear the ball out of their zone, the Pirates came from two down to defeat the Jordan Falcons 8-5 in the PAC-6 Tournament Semifinal. They now face Chapel Hill on Thursday, May 3. Chapel Hill defeated fourth-seeded Orange 12-5 in the first game on Tuesday, May 1. Chris Feifs led the scoring for Riverside, getting four goals in the contest. Andy DeLamielleure, playing perhaps his best game of the year, scored two and added an assist, but was stellar on defense against Jordan clear attempts. Tim Gregory added a goal, as did Kevin Raspet. Madison Thompson and Richard Ladd each added an assist. The beat-up Pirates were again playing shorthanded for this game, with all-conference midfielder Cory Coffman on the sidelines recuperating from mononucleosis. This is the third game the Pirates have played without Coffman's services. All-conference attackman Laurence Tilley, who had missed the last two games with a knee injury, was back in the lineup, though. Coffman is not expected to be back in uniform until the state tournament gets underway next week. Tuesday night's game opened with the Falcons seeming to be more on their game than Riverside. The Falcons possessed the ball for most of the first six minutes and scored at 10:22 when Eric Gardner put one in on a John Solie assist. The Pirates tied it up when Madison Thompson assisted on an Andy DeLamielleure goal at 6:22 to make it 1-1. For the next several minutes Riverside broke several Jordan clear attempts, but couldn't manage to score against the Falcon defense. Jordan finally got the ball downfield and Jordan Coach Bob Cappelletti called a timeout with 1:06 remaining to set up a play. The timeout paid off when Eric Gardner scored with 56 seconds remaining on an assist from Taylor Shenkman to make it 2-1 Jordan at the end of the first period. In the second quarter, Jordan continued to have trouble clearing against the Riverside ride. On two occasions, the Pirates' Andy DeLamielleure defended the longstick passer, and then raced to the Falcon goalie after the longstick passed to the Falcon goaltender, and managed to gain possession both times. Those efforts paid dividends when, at 8:44, Tim Gregory scored on a DeLamielleure assist to tie the game a 2-2. For the next three minutes neither team could manage much offense, and DeLamielleure broke up another Jordan clear single-handed at the 7-minute mark. Finally, at 5:55, the Falcons' Solie scored on a Shenkman assist to put Jordan up 3-2. An unassisted goal by Joseph Rufty at 3:47 put the Falcons up 4-2, and a spectacular one-on-one save by Riverside goalie Richard Ladd with 54 seconds remaining kept the Jordan margin at 2 goals as the half ended. Riverside was awarded an extra-man opportunity shortly after the third quarter began, but couldn't capitalize. However, at 9:24, with the sides even, Chris Feifs scored the first of his four goals on a nifty move to make it 4-3 Jordan. Jordan answered at 6:01 of the third period when Gardner again scored on a Solie assist to make it 5-3 Jordan, and the Riverside crowd began to look concerned. Little did they know that Gardner's goal would be the last of the night for Jordan, and Riverside would go on to score five more after the 6:01 mark. Chris Feifs put the first of the five in at 5:35 unassisted to make it 5-4 Jordan. Then Kevin Raspet put in his own unassisted goal at 5:12 to tie the game at 5-5. Feifs put Riverside ahead for good at 2:58 of the third period on another unassisted goal to put Riverside up 6-5 as the Pirate fans showed their appreciation. It was now the Falcon fans' turn to be concerned. Riverside's longsticks held the Falcons in check in the final three minutes of the third period and in the final period altogether. Kevin Radack, David Johnson, Ned Phillips and Nick Wallhauser, along with midfielder Anthony Howard and attackman Graham Murray, just refused to let the Falcons possess the ball. On one occasion goalie Richard Ladd joined in on the clear-breaking. While playing attack in the extra-man offense, he stole a ball from a Jordan player trying to clear, and assisted on an Andy DeLamielleure goal at 6:22 of the final period to put Riverside up 7-5 and give the Pirates some breathing room. Feifs added more insurance at 5:49 on an unassisted goal to put Riverside up 8-5. The Pirate defense forced several Falcon out-of-bounds calls over the remaining minutes to preserve the win. At one lull in the cheering, Riverside Coach Jim Kirkley could be heard saying, "Good D, guys, good D!" which prompted one parent in the Riverside section to remark, "Wow, a compliment from the coach."

| Riverside gets it done shorthanded again, downing ECH 8-5 (April 26, 2001)
| Playing its second game in two days without key starters, the Pirates pulled together and defeated East Chapel Hill 8-5 in a hard-fought game on the Wildcats' field. Kevin Raspet drew first blood for the Pirates at 11:05 with an unassisted goal, but 35 seconds later the Wildcats' Bryan Young tied the game on an assist from Sam Sanders. But, 43 seconds later, Raspet again put Riverside ahead with an unassisted goal to make it 2-1. Though the game was close the rest of the way, Riverside never lost the lead after that point. A Chris Feifs goal at 8:15 put the Pirates up 3-1, but an unassisted goal by ECH's David Fussell-Louie made it 3-2 at 4:13, which was the score as the first period ended. Neither team could find the net in the second period, and the score at the half remained 4-2. The Wildcats scored first in the second half when Jon Reda put one in unassisted at 10:23 to make it 4-3 Riverside. But the Pirates managed some breathing room at 8:58 of the third period as Graham Murray scored on his knees after receiving a pass from Chris Feifs to make it 5-3, which was the score as the third period ended. The Wildcats put on some pressure early in the final period, but luck and good play kept the ball out of the net. First, at 10:13, a hard ECH shot hit the pipe, and then, at 9:28 another had Wildcat shot was saved in spectacular fashion by Pirate goalie Richard Ladd. Ladd's outlet pass led to a quick Riverside goal at 8:58 when Graham Murray scored unassisted to make it 6-3. And, 30 seconds later, Andy DeLamielleure, coming across the crease from the Wildcat goalie's right side, put in a hard low shot to make it 7-3 Riverside. But the Wildcats weren't finished yet as Young scored twice unassisted and unanswered to make it 7-5 with 4:48 to go and the Pirate fans murmured with worry. Murray eased their anxiety, though, with his third goal of the night at 4:05, giving Riverside a three-goal cushion. The Riverside defense kept the Wildcats out of the goal the rest of the way for the 8-5 win.

| Riverside comes from behind to beat Jordan 8-6 (April 24, 2001)
| Operating without two key players, and with several others recovering from illness, the Pirates sucked it up on Tuesday, April 24, and came from three goals down in the second half, outscoring the Falcons 5-1 in the final two periods to get the win. Coaches Jim Kirkley and Glen Estacio made a point of telling the Pirates after their second scrimmage on the Virginia Beach trip that everyone on the team was going to have to step up as the regular season resumed with injuries and illness plaguing the Pirates. Starters Laurence Tilley (knee injury) and Cory Coffman (virus) sat out the game, and defensive starter Kevin Radack and midfielder Tim Gregory were less-than 100 percent after battling viruses for an extended period, but the Pirates managed to hang together with considerable help from Chris Feifs' five goals. Riverside scored first when Chris Feifs assisted Graham Murray for a goal at 6:49 of the first period. Jordan (will have names of Jordan scorers added as soon as I get them; was out of town for this game) tied the game at 5:21, and went ahead at 1:14 with another goal to make the score 2-1 Jordan after one quarter. Riverside tied it up at 11:53 of the second period on an unassisted goal by Kevin Raspet. Jordan took the lead back, though, at 10:29 and added another at 9:00 to make it 4-2 Jordan. Another Jordan goal with 59 seconds remaining in the half made it 5-3 Jordan. Things got off to a good start for the Falcons in the third quarter when they scored another goal at 8:13 to make it 6-3 in the Falcons' favor, but that was the last of the Jordan scoring for the night. And Riverside was not finished rattling the nets. Chris Fiefs scored at 8:01, Madison Thompson scored on a Tim Gregory assist at 1:20 and Fiefs scored again at 1:12 to tie the game 6-6 at the end of the third quarter. The final quarter began much the same way as the third ended. Kevin Raspet assisted Feifs at 11:49 to put the Pirates ahead to stay, and an unassisted goal by Raspet at 8:18 put Riverside up 8-6, which was to be the final margin.

| Riverside downs Hoggard 17-4 (April 12, 2001)
| The Pirates defeated Hoggard 13-4 on April 12, led by Chris Feifs, whose seven goals tied a two-year-old Riverside record for goals in a game set by attackman and current JV Coach Evan Leekley in 1999. Single goals were added by Kevin Raspet, Cory Coffman, Graham Murray, Andy DeLamielleure, Richard Ladd and Owen Ham. Laurence Tilley had two assists and DeLamielleure added three in the win. Riverside actually found itself behind twice in the first quarter against the game Hoggard squad. A Hoggard goal at 11:27 put the Wilmington team up 1-0. That lead held until a goal by Fiefs at 6:16 tied the game. But at 4:22 Hoggard scored again to make it 2-1. Feifs again tied the game at 1:25 on a Tilley feed and that was as close as Hoggard got for the rest of the evening. Riverside added four goals in the second quarter to Hoggard's one. Feifs, Coffman, Murray and DeLamielleure each scored in the second period, Coffman on what was actually a pass that went into the goal. Riverside was up 7-3 at the half. | Riverside offense stays hot in 17-4 defeat of Orange (April 10, 2001)
| The Riverside offense, which seemed to find itself last week in a convincing win over East Chapel Hill, continued on a hot streak Tuesday, April 10, with a 17-4 win over Orange. The Pirates sewed up the win early with a nine-goal first quarter and five more in the second, while holding Orange to no goals in the first half. Andy DeLamielleure led the Pirate scoring with four goals and two assists, Graham Murray had three goals and one assist, Chris Feifs added three goals, Laurence Tilley had two goals and three assists, Anthony Howard added two goals, Owen Ham and Andrew Knopp each had a goal and Monty Montsinger had one assist. The Pirates started out slowly, letting Orange dominate possession for the first three minutes. But a Graham Murray goal on a Tilley assist at 8:51 opened the floodgates. From then on it was all Riverside. Eight more goals were scored in the first period as Riverside's crisp passing put the Panthers at a disadvantage. A goal by Owen Ham on a Tilley assist at 5:05 made it 2-0, then an unassisted Chris Feifs goal at 4:33 made it 3-0, followed by an unassisted Andy DeLamielleure goal at 4:00 to make it 4-0. Then Tilley goal on a DeLamielleure assist at 3:43 made it 5-0, followed by an unassisted Tilley goal at 3:33, then a Murray goal on a Tilley assist at 2:32 made it 7-0. At 1:04, with Riverside a man up after an unnecessary roughness penalty on Orange, Chris Feifs scored on a Kevin Raspet assist, followed by a DeLamielleure goal with 15 seconds remaining to make it 9-0 at the first break. The Pirates again held Orange scoreless in the second quarter while adding four more goals of their own. Fiefs scored unassisted at 6:59, DeLamielleure scored on a Raspet assist at 6:38, Graham Murray scored at 2:37 on an athletic move when he caught a high rebound off a Pirate shot on goal and put it in while still up in the air, and at 1:46 Anthony Howard scored on a DeLamielleure assist to make it 13-0 at the half. Riverside scored three goals in the second half before Orange got on the scoreboard. Goals by Howard on a Murray assist at 9:16, Kevin Raspet unassisted at 7:16 and DeLamielleure on a Raspet assist at 5:34 made it 16-0. Orange's Billy Brink put the Panthers on the board at 2:58 with an unassisted goal, and then, in a man-up situation after a foul was called on Riverside, Orange scored again at 1:34 when Brink again found the net. In the final quarter, Riverside added one more goal when Andrew Knopp scored at 10:18 on a Monty Montsinger assist. That was followed by two more Orange goals, one by John Dewar at 6:59 and another by Kurt VanDeventer at 1:14 to close out the game's scoring with Riverside up 17-4.
