Riverside Coaches and Staff
Head Coach Jim Kirkley

Coach Kirkley has been the Riverside lacrosse coach since 1993, the second year of the program. In 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002 his teams won the NCHSLA (public school) championship. He has 25 years of coaching experience in Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and North Carolina. He played college lacrosse at Bucknell University, where he was a long stick defenseman. He has a master's degree in divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and a Ph.D. from Duke University. Most summers he punishes his aging body by playing in the master's division at the Vail Shootout. He has been known to become agitated at the occasional officiating call, prompting a visiting fan once to exclaim, "This guy's an ordained minister?"

Asst. Coach Scott Gordon

Scott Gordon (RHS '98) was Riverside's first U.S. Lacrosse All-American and an anchor of its first state championship team in 1998. In addition to his All-American designation, other honors include All-State at midfield in 1997 and 1998, PAC-VI Player of the Year in 1998 and PAC-VI All-Tournament First Team in 1998. Scott played lacrosse at St. Andrews Presbyterian College for four years and was an All-Deep South Conference midfielder his senior year.

Asst. Coach Brian Ring

Brian Ring (RHS '04) didn't start in goal for Riverside until his senior year but was named the PAC VI Player of the Year in 2004 and was named to the All-State Second Team that year as well. He was also named to the PAC-VI All-Tournament First Team in 2004.
