Riverside Coaches and Staff
Head Coach Jim Kirkley

Coach Kirkley has been the Riverside lacrosse coach since 1993, the second year of the program. In 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002 his teams won the NCHSLA (public school) championship. He has 28 years of coaching experience in Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and North Carolina. He played college lacrosse at Bucknell University, where he was a long stick defenseman. He has a master's degree in divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and a Ph.D. from Duke University. Most summers he punishes his aging body by playing in the master's division at the Vail Shootout. Coach Kirkley is an ordained minister and is an associate professor Ethics and Religion in the Religion and Philosophy Department of Shaw University in Raleigh.


Asst. Coach Cory Coffman

Cory Coffman led Riverside in scoring his final two seasons (2002, 2003) with more 200 career points. He was a member of two state championship teams and was named Offensive Most Valuable Player of the 2002 state championship game, was a two-time All-state pick, and an All-American at attack his senior year. He was also named PAC-6 Player of the Year in 2003. He played college lacrosse for the Loyola Greyhounds, starting every game on the first midfield his final two seasons. He was awarded Loyola College's Medal of Merit as the schools most outstanding student-athlete his senior year.
