Looks to be a down year for Western lacrosse this year. i was at the tabor game and noticed some HUGE issues with the usually powerful team. the Dpoles however looked disciplined, the middies looked tired and the attack looked pathetic

gh v middle creek
gh won 17 to 8. Green hope was man down almost an entire quarter but Middle Creek coulnt capitalize. Middle Creek showed some good looks of offense but defense was week. At the end of the game Middle Creek got quite disrespectful after hitting a kid. All in all GH looks strong if they could stop commiting penalties

Hoggard Vikings
State champs 2010 hands down. Great Defense, Attack, Middies, and Goalie. Nine seniors and countless skilled younger players lead this team. Do not overlook the vikings this year.

Broughton Vs. East Chapel Hill (3/13) YOUTH LEAGUE NIGHT!!!

Wear your youth league jersey and get in for $2!
Broughton Lacrosse hosts East Chapel Hill this Saturday night. This game lines up as one of the bigger non-conference match-ups in the Triangle this season.
Moe's will also be catering the concession stand!
JV starts at 4pm Varsity at 6pm

SInce both teams are so young, in my opinion it was better to see RHS play until the final whistle. It gave the young and inexperienced players on both sides more practice playing instead of one team trying to kill the clock. The score was already settled well into the 3rd quarter. I believe that 2 of the close D-men for Cary are new to the game and I'm sure they will benefit from the late game drives instead of chasing some kid behind the goal playing keep away.
With two young teams like these, playing time and game experience is extremely important. When I was at Panther Creek, we would have the running clock option taken away so the guys could get every possible second of game time experience.
Congrats to Cary for finally getting the JV team up and running again. That is the start of rebuilding that program. Good job to both teams. I'm excited to watch how you guys grow as a team.

i agree
lots of rhs guys WANT to score. good to see. however i just wish they hadn't been trying to score in the last two minutes already up 10 goals. not sure why that was necessary especially with one of rhs's alltime great players coaching the other team.

Nice game for the Pirates
Solid effort in the first game for the Pirates. Balanced scoring and good defense. Better shot placement and the score could have been a lot higher, but maybe the most impressive part was the overall agressiveness by RHS. They were hustling everywhere and that's good to see.
23 :07 03/6/2010
Riverside 11, Cary 0
Carson Sterling led RHS with 4g3a; Mitchell Fagert had 3g2a; Ben Bortner had 2g; Brad Hinkle had 1g,1a; Grant Cullinan had 1g; and Joe Weitz had 1a.
RHS Goalie Chris Spathis had 10 saves, Leslie Wickham led in groundballs with 9, and Brent Samuels led in LBCs with 3.
Story later, but after the Duke-Carolina game, for sure.

Concession for varsity game today
Today's being a Saturday game, I don't know if the concession will be open or not, but no one has signed up for the concession for today's varsity game. A couple of JV parents should sign up just in case the concession is open.

Select team infighting
I've learned over the years that allowing select team infighting to take place on the forum is a bad idea. Effusive praise is just an unpaid ad and over-the-top criticism is designed to hurt one operation at the expense of another. I allow select teams to announce their tryouts and their results at tournaments, but if parents or organizers have any other comments, criticisms, praise or critiques, please put those on the select team web sites. Thanks.

No Worries
Hey "Grateful Mom" thanks for your concern, but really No worries. TSL is in better shape than ever. As all players and coaches prepare for the start of their HS season, the TSL Staff is working hard behind the scenes preparing for what will be TSL's best summer yet.
The coaching staff is the strongest TSL & Cannons has ever had.
TSL Staff Coach Sandy Kapatos (Former National Champion Coach at Adelphi & current Ravenscroft Head Coach) Coach Ryan Cummings (Former Syracuse National Champion Player & Post Grad assistant at UNC) Coach Jon Lantzy (Former Duke Assistant & current Durham Academy Head Coach) Coach Ron Caputo (Current Duke Assistant Coach) Damian Hall (Former Loyola College standout and Broughton Head Coach) Ed Raymond (TSL U-15 head Coach and 3 boys through the TSL program)
Cannons Staff Sam Carpenter (Former USA U-19 Coach & Former East Chapel Hill HS Head coach) Chip Mayer (Warrior Sales rep & Former UNC player & assistant coach for National Champion) Chad Watson ( Great Atlantic Lacrosse President and Former UNC player) Mike Shambo (Former Upstate NY & Empire State team Goaltender and Rage Coach)
What an incredible staff!
Also, the word is, those loyal players who have come through the program and committed to playing for TSL this summer is an extremely promising list. Like every summer, TSL players will have the stage at some of the best, most competitive and broadly recruited tournaments including the AA bracket at Tri-state, Rutgers /MVP and a brand new exclusive event sponsored by NFL films - where professional quality video will be taken of all players. In addition, TSL teams will also be meeting up with other quality Select organizations from throughout the state for zero cost "Friendly" round robin playdays prior to and in preparation for heading out on the road for what is setting up to be a marvelous summer of lacrosse & friendship. The Carolinna Cannons U-13 and U-11 squads (player & parents alike) are also chomping at the bit to get back after it this summer.
So…”Concerned Mom” …. don’t you worry a bit about Ole’ TSL and Cannons Lacrosse here in the Triangle. The programs are in good hands and are more prepared and organized than ever. Like last summer the teams will play top level competition, travel as a team, play as a team and have a ton of fun. Just remember, Select lacrosse is NOT and will never be about winning. More importantly getting exposure for the player and offering an opportunity to give an indivdual "their stage" THIS is what our organization offers.
Good luck to all North Carolina Select programs this summer. TSL & Cannons players will be rooting for you!

Lax Event
This Regional Event looks like a great thing, but it's strange that Providence, Catholic and Chapel Hill aren't participating. It'd be interesting to see NC's best against those out-of-state teams.

Decline of TSL?
Does anybody know what is happening with TSL? The Fusion/TSL web site does not list Coach Capp and he is the founder of TSL. It has been four years since our son played and we were very grateful to him for all of his hard work and mentoring. In speaking with a current parent from Raleigh, it sounds like the program has not been successful over the last two years. She said that the team did not win one game this fall, while our son's team barely lost a game when Coach Capp was in charge. Wherever he is, thank you Coach!

Everyone knows strong and duffy are great players and they can both take over a game, but two players can't run a whole offense....
